This quote definitely rings true for me and speaks directly to the importance of communication in marriage.
There have been many times in my marriage where I am unhappy with certain things, but I don’t talk about it with my husband.
Instead, I keep quiet for fear of causing an argument, and try to sweep it under the rug.
Each time I did that, a little bit of quiet bitterness would build up.
Problem is, after a while, that stuff under the rug and that bitterness starts to spill out and cause problems.
Over the years, I have learned that bitterness has no place in a marriage. Issues need to be dealt with.
Communicating things that are bothering me ( and vice versa with my husband ) has become a healthy way to rid my self of the little irritants that build up into big problems.
Instead of pushing it under the rug, we talk about it.
We work thru it.
And our marriage is much healthier and happier because of it.
There are endless lessons to be learned in marriage, but this is one of the most valuable for me:
Communicate with each other!
Communication in marriage is key!
